The time has come to confront sustainable development from a public policy viewpoint. This conference focuses
on how institutions craft, shape,implement and enforce specific policies in addressing the complexities of sustainable
development. These policies, in turn, influence and colour the public debates and intellectual discourses.
Recognizing the vital importance of public policy for sustainable development, particularly in the 21st century,
University of Malaya, through the International Institute of Public Policy and Management (INPUMA) will be organising
the conference to address the central issues which touch on public policy and sustainable development on the
national, regional and international levels.
OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE
Functioning on two main levels, the objectives of the conference are:
• To provide an international platform for the sharing of public policy knowledge;
• To be a synergistic forum in which public policy knowledge can be accumulated, integrated, reconceptualised,
and represented in new ways, which can be utilised for sustainable development.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The target participants for the conference are made up of:
• Politicians/Government Officials and Policy Makers;
• Academics;
• Economists/ Social Scientists/ Lawyers/ Public Policy Analysts/ Scientist/ Engineers/ Architects
• Representatives and members of international development organisations;
